The GL G2G from the Michigan folks was well worth the three hour drive from Fort Wayne. The weather did not corporate with us, but just enough so we could do some go-karting and enjoy our Foci.

Before I go into the events of the day, I would like to say thanks to Jeremy for setting up a great time for us all. For a "almost banned" newbie, that was the best G2G I have been at. To Rob, us Indiana boys went EAST on 94 as instructed. Do you know that was the WRONG WAY?

John and I were instructed to take 94 east on the northside of Detroit to cruise home to Fort Wayne, Indiana. John was leading and I was following. When I looked over my left shoulder and noticed a mighty nice sun set. Well my BoyScout training kicked in and I said to myself, "Why is the sun setting in the EAST?" If we were to be heading SOUTH to Fort Wayne, the sun was setting on the wrong coast. I whipped out the handy-dandy atlas; looked at what exit we were at, and notice headed to another nation. We were at EXIT 262. We were NORTH of Detroit ready to hook up with CANADA.

I hit the high-beams and John and I pulled over to check the map together. Sure enough he noted were told to take 94 east. Just for all of those out there, 94 East around Detroit heads NORTH TO CANADA!

We went to the next exit, turn around and headed in the proper direction to Fort Wayne. I am just glad we had a map, and was not tired enough not to notice. Hell we could of awaking this morning as "CANADIAN’s, Ehay"!

On with the day of fun of the G2G. We all met for a picnic at Stoney Creek Park. We acquired a pavilion equipped with a grill. Everybody brought side dishes and the Michigan locals brought the BEEF! The temp was cold with tons of wind. It rained at least every 20 minutes for five minutes at a time.

One of the Ohio boys brought a tent, thinking things would get wild and have to crash in Michigan. We used his rain cover as a windshield from the elements. Thank you, it helped immensely. If you got to cold, you could run to the restrooms, which were heated. Speaking of restrooms, were those the nicest park facilities you have ever ventured into

After waiting for local "NO-SHOWs", because of the weather. Hey people, you live in MICHICAN, a little wind wouldn’t have killed you! We packed it up and headed over to CJ Barrymoore’s for kart to kart competition.

No, I will not forget to mention the ride there. All of the Foci gathered up and began the cruise to Barrymoore’s. We jumped on 94 and hogged up the entire thing not to mention the road that leads to Barrymoore’s. Man, I never realized how many people HATE Focus’! That was too funny. No matter how fast we went there was some trailer trash that wanted through. Oh well there must have been a sale at Wal-Mart on Marlboro and Ultra High Life!

Once we got to Barrymoore’s we lined up the Foci, jumped out and started to head in. We were of coursed stop by a local hillbilly and was asked, "Wut you guyz doin dere, It dis sum kinda Focus thing?" NO DUDE, we are the Great Lakes Aztech Team, helloooo!

As soon as we get in the tracks are of course still wet from the downpours so we all decide to play pool and do a little gaming. We played for an hour then the tracks opened up. The competition was fierce and everyone wanted to whip my ass. Well to everyone who wanted to know, they did kick my ass all around the course. Every kart I sat in was the slowest piece of dog-doo!

Now guess what happened next, yep it started raining again. TRACKS CLOSED! All headed indoors for a game of LASER TAG. Man, we were worked after that. John got the high score followed closely by myself. The RED TEAM WON, if anybody cares.

CJ dried the track again and we took a run on the "Road Warriors" kart, the "Slick-Track", then the big "Indy Track". We thought the Indy track was slow, no it was not! On Indy track I was finally able to have some competition. The karts were actually tuned close together, so my day was finally complete.

After that run of karts it was 7pm Indiana time, 8pm in Michigan. It was time for the Indiana Boys to head home (of course the wrong way). The entire Great Lakes Driver’s hung out in the lot for bit and chatted a little more. We all jumped into our cars and headed off on our destinations.

In closing I wanted to say thanks to everybody and the for the great hospitality. Our region truly has the best members to hang with. Even though the FocalJet bashing was way more than I could ever imaging, the day was a GREAT ONE!
